Going into the fifth week of the regular season, the Chargers are still ranked third in the NFL in total points. Here is what notable fantasy football experts are saying going into the game vs. the Raiders:
Melvin Gordon: Gordon leads the league in rushing touchdowns with six and is currently the second highest scoring RB in standard scoring leagues. Gordon has been a consensus must-start for the past few weeks and it is difficult to find a fantasy expert who does not have him ranked among the top ten RB's in their weekly ranking. NFL.com's Michael Fabiano calls Gordon the "start of the week" among RB's saying "The Wisconsin product has another favorable matchup ahead against the Raiders, who have allowed an average of more than 23 fantasy points per game to running backs." Gordon is on average going for $7,350 in daily fantasy leagues.
Philip Rivers:Rivers has had at least 300 yards passing the past two weeks and many pundits expect him to continue that streak this week as he has averaged over 300 yards the last five games vs. Oakland. Rivers is listed as a "starter" on multiple websites and as a "love" by ESPN's Matthew Berry who says "With the Raiders giving up the most pass plays of 20-plus yards, expect Rivers to test them deep, as he ranks in the top 10 in completion percentage and QBR on passes thrown 15-plus yards in the air this season." Rivers is on average going for $7,600 in daily fantasy leagues.
Travis Benjamin:Benjamin did not go for more than 50-yards for the first time since Week 1, but he was still targeted seven times, including a deep shot that narrowly did not connect. That being said, Adam Filanelfo of rotoexperts.com lists Benjamin as a starter saying "(He) gets the Oakland Raiders defense this week which happens to allow the most Fantasy points per game to the receiver position. If you weren't starting Benjamin every week, this is a good time to start." He is on average going for $6,500 in daily fantasy leagues.
Tyrell Williams: Williams was able to haul in five catches for 40-yards on eight targets last week. With a big game from Inman, the fantasy buzz around Williams has dissipated, but had Williams made it into the end-zone instead of being stopped at the goal-line, the narrative would be slightly different. Williams is tied with Benjamin for the most targets on the team with 28 and is rated with a three-star matchup by Yahoo.com saying "(He) has been targeted 23 times in the last three weeks and should see a high volume again Sunday." Williams is on average going for $5,600 in daily fantasy leagues.
Antonio Gates:Gates is listed as questionable this week after being doubtful the past two weeks. He is on average going for $4,850 in daily fantasy leagues.
Hunter Henry: Filling in nicely while Gates has been out, Henry caught his first touchdown last week and ended with four receptions for 61-yards and the afore-mentioned touchdown. If Gates dies miss time, experts expect Henry to keep producing, per NFL.com's Michael Fabiano "Assuming that Antonio Gates misses another game due to an injured hamstring, Henry will project to be a viable No. 1 fantasy tight end." He is on average going for $4,350 in daily fantasy leagues.
Dontrelle Inman:Following his big game last week, Inman was listed by ESPN's Field Yates as one of the "best free agent finds" as he is only owned in 0.7% of ESPN leagues; Yates notes "There were positive indicators for Inman entering Week 4, including this: He led the Chargers in snaps played in each of the team's first three games. San Diego continues to be a high-ceiling passing attack and Inman should be added in 12-team or larger leagues." He is on average going for $5,100 in daily fantasy leagues.
