One of the most inspirational leaders is returning to the Bolts.
The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Wednesday that they've agreed to terms on two-year deal to bring NT Brandon Mebane back into the fold.
A team captain from the moment he signed with the Bolts in 2016, Mebane immediately emerged as the heart and soul of the defense. In his first season with the team, he totaled 35 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and his first career interception. He followed it up by notching 57 tackles, and two tackles for loss in 2017.
Most recently, Mebane started all 12 regular season games he appeared in a year ago, missing four games as he tended to a family emergency. The 12th year veteran proved stout in the trenches, amassing 53 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.
Overall, Mebane has registered 91 tackles, an interception, a pair of sacks, a forced fumble, two passes defensed and nine tackles for loss over his first three years with the Bolts. He was also the team's Ed Block Courage award winner in 2017 after suffering a season-ending biceps injury at the end of the 2016 season.
Prior to joining the Chargers, the 34-year old spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Seattle Seahawks after being selected in the third-round (85th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft. He won a pair of NFC championships with Seattle, including a victory in Super Bowl XLVIII over Denver.
A Los Angeles native, Mebane's totaled 494 tackles, 57 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks in 169 career games with 163 starts.
