10 Things to Watch: What Happens with Joey Bosa?

We'll reveal our top 10 things to watch for at training camp each day leading up to the first practice on July 30.

What Happens with Joey Bosa?

Joey Bosa remains one of a handful of first round draft picks yet to sign as Chargers Camp begins this Saturday.

While that will remain a major storyline until he inks a deal, what happens with him whenever he gets on the field is also critical.

More to the point, how the Bolts plan to use Bosa remains to be seen.

The third overall pick will play defensive end in San Diego's hybrid 3-4 defense, but the specifics of how he'll be used is still up in the air.  His ability to wreak havoc on the quarterback while also stuffing the run means you may see Bosa lining up all over the defensive front.

"He's an outstanding pass rusher on the edge, and moving him inside to rush, but in addition to that, he plays the run extremely well," General Manager Tom Telesco said on draft night.  "So for us, he's very balanced.  To find a player to help us in both areas, which we think we need, he's not just strictly a pass rusher.  He plays the run game extremely well.  So to have those factors that all add up, it's nice for the third pick of the draft."

Bosa made a name for himself over three standout seasons at Ohio State despite facing constant double and triple teams.  He finished with 150 tackles, 50.5 tackles for loss, 26.0 sacks, 24 additional QB hits and five forced fumbles in 41 games.  How the Chargers plan to maximize his talents alongside Brandon Mebane and Corey Liuget in their revamped starting defensive line will be top of mind whenever Bosa arrives.
