Scott Quessenberry isn't joking when he says he grew up a die-hard Bolts fan.
The fifth-round pick owned tons of Chargers paraphernalia as a kid, including a treasured jersey of his favorite player.
It was a navy-blue Nick Hardwick jersey emblazoned with the number 61.
Thus, when asked what number he wanted to wear after the Bolts selected him 155th overall, the choice was obvious.
"I've always been an o-lineman and played center my whole life," Quessenberry said. "Growing up being a Chargers fan, Hardwick was my favorite player. I also took a poll, and I asked my family and some of my friends, and they all also thought it would be awesome if I wore that number. I'm fired up to honor him and wear 61 on my back."
Hearing that Quessenberry is wearing number 61 in his honor completely humbled Hardwick.
"I'm so honored to have a guy who grew up a Chargers fan choose to wear the number I used to wear," Hardwick said. "That number doesn't look good hanging up behind glass. It's made to get dirty. Go get 'em, Scott!"
