On Tuesday, Charger Girls and former Chargers Defensive End Marcellus Wiley attended the championship round of the Compton Unified School District’s E-Sports Tournament. After 2 months of E-Sports competition and STEM curriculum programming, the squad from Compton HS was crowned district champions, receiving Chargers tickets to commemorate their victory.

Joey Bosa, Uchenna Nwosu, Isaac Rochell, Michael Badgley and Justin Jones joined the Bikes for Kids Foundation and California Resources Corporation to surprise over 100 deserving students at Bennett-Kew Elementary School in Inglewood with new bikes.

Over the weekend, more than 30 teams from high schools across Southern California competed in the 2019 STEM on the Sidelines presented by Ducommun final competition at Dignity Health Sports Park. Over the course of a few weeks, students were tasked to code and build a device that launches mini footballs at a target. Each device was judged based on speed and accuracy with Tustin High School being crowned as the 2019 Champion.

Los Angeles Chargers fullback Derek Watt teamed up with JCPenney to spread Holiday Cheer by surprising 25 deserving kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Orange Coast with a shopping spree at the JCPenney at Southbay Pavilion in Carson.

For nearly three decades, the Chargers have hosted an annual shoe giveaway for children from underserved communities. Each year, Chargers players and Charger Girls welcome local youth and join them for a fun-filled day of shopping. At the event, each child is paired with a player or Charger Girl who then lead them down the aisles in search of the perfect pair of shoes. This year, the team gave away 300 pairs of shoes to elementary students from Santa Ana Unified School District at WSS.

The Los Angeles Chargers and Pacifico teamed up to host a private beach cleanup with Heal the Bay as part of the NFL’s Huddle for 100. The group had the unique opportunity to explore marine pollution with a Heal the Bay educator and then became part of the solution by picking up over 80 pounds of trash at Mother's Beach in Long Beach.

Casey Hayward Jr. and Desmond King II got into the holiday spirit by hosting events for the community ahead of Thanksgiving. The Hayward Hands foundation, along with some help with the Jack Boyz, teamed up with United Way Orange County to serve a Thanksgiving meal to families at Washington Elementary School. Desmond King II was joined by his teammates at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana to help serve dinner and distribute ready made meals to people in the surrounding neighborhood.

The Los Angeles Chargers teamed up with California Resources Corporation, After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to host a Fútbol Americano 101 Jr. Training Camp for students at Belvedere Middle School in East Los Angeles. Former Chargers cornerback, Antoine Cason and the Charger Girls taught kids NFL-style drills and showed them how to be active and healthy after school.

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Chargers and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians teamed up to host a Play60 camp for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Redlands-Riverside. Chargers Legend Kassim Osgood was on hand to help run the kids through football drills and emphasize the importance of staying active.

The Los Angeles Chargers teamed up with Operation Gratitude to assemble Care Kits for deployed troops. Active duty military, Chargers Staff, fans and the Charger Girls worked together to pack donated goods into the kits that will be shipped abroad to the troops. At the end of the event, Bolts fan and 24 year Army Veteran Ed Duran was surprised with two tickets to Superbowl LIV.
Bolts Teach Financial Literacy
The Los Angeles Chargers, with help from Chargers alumnus Kaasim Osgood and the Charger Girls, teamed up with Pacific Premier Bank for the final event at the Watts-Willowbrook Boys and Girls Club to teach kids about financial literacy. The participating kids were rewarded with a raffle which included prizes such as game tickets, signed gear and gift cards.
