The Los Angeles Chargers today elevated signed tackle Foster Sarell and running back Kimani Vidal from the practice squad for Sunday's game.
Sarell made three starts in 35 regular-season games played for the Chargers from 2022-24, also appearing in a pair of postseason games for Los Angeles. He was inactive as a standard elevation in Week 1 for the Bolts. Sarell came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021 before joining the Bolts later that year. Sarell played four years (2017-20) at Stanford University, starting 17-of-34 games along the offensive front. He was part of Cardinal teams that appeared in two bowl games and, in 2019, started all 11 games at right tackle to earn honorable mention All-Pacific-12 recognition.
A sixth-round pick of the Chargers in 2024 (181st overall), Vidal saw action in 10 games for the Bolts in his rookie season. He hauled in a 38-yard touchdown catch on his first NFL touch, becoming the 11th player in team history to have a receiving score in an NFL debut. Vidal finished his rookie campaign with 155 rushing yards on 43 attempts (3.6 avg.) and five receptions for 62 yards (12.4 avg.) and the touchdown.
Vidal appeared in 48 games over four seasons at Troy (2020-23), finishing his career as the program's all-time leader in rushing yards (4,010), attempts (781) and 200-yard rushing games (five), while tying for the most 100-yard rushing performances (14) and tying for No. 3 with 33 rushing touchdowns. The 2023 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year and third-team All-American added 92 receptions for 700 yards (7.6 avg.) and a touchdown. Vidal is the great-nephew of Baseball Hall of Famer and home run legend Hank Aaron.
