Over his two seasons in Miami as an offensive assistant (2024-25), Everett worked with the tight ends and contributed on a staff that coached running back De'Von Achane to rank ninth in the NFL and fourth in the AFC with 2,258 rushing yards. Achane had a career year in 2025, earning Pro Bowl honors after registering 1,838 yards from scrimmage (1,350 rushing, 488 receiving) and 12 touchdowns (eight rushing, four receiving).

Everett joined the Dolphins after spending two seasons as an analyst at the collegiate level, working as an offensive analyst for the University of North Carolina in 2022 and a senior offensive analyst in 2023 at the University of Wisconsin. With the Badgers, he helped running back Braelon Allen rank inside the top three of the Big Ten in rushing yards (984) and touchdown runs (12). Everett worked with the quarterbacks while with the Tar Heels, helping quarterback Drake Maye throw for 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns and go on to be the No. 3 overall selection by New England in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Before joining North Carolina, Everett was a consultant with several NCAA and high school teams, advising on opponent scouting and other actionable reports. During that time, he also was a senior advisor for multiple football technology programs. In 2019, Everett was the tight ends coach for the Alliance of American Football's Memphis Express. Before his time with the Memphis Express, Everett spent three seasons (2016-18) as the defensive coordinator at Bridgewater (Va.) College. He coordinated an Eagles defense in 2018 that was the top-ranked unit in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (341.0 total net yards allowed per game).

After graduating from the University of Michigan, Everett began coaching high school football, first as an offensive line coach at Washington-Lee High in Arlington, Va., for two years (2002-03). He then was the head coach at Robert E. Lee High in Springfield, Va., from 2004-10 coaching the team to a Virginia state quarterfinal appearance in 2009. Everett's final position before working at Bridgewater College was as the defensive coordinator at Westfield High (Chantilly, Va.) from 2011-15. He helped Westfield to a 61-8 record in that time, winning the 2015 6A Virginia State Championship, when Everett's defense allowed just 12.6 points per game.

Everett and his wife, Lisa, have two sons, Bo and Joey.
