Julian Campenni joins the Los Angeles coaching staff in 2026 as assistant defensive line coach, marking his first NFL experience. He comes to the Bolts after coaching the last two seasons at Rutgers University.
With the Scarlet Knights, Campenni spent his first season at Rutgers coaching defensive ends, before transitioning to tutor the outside linebackers in 2025. He joined Rutgers after a five-season tenure at Bowling Green State University (2019-23), advancing from defensive line coach from 2019-21 to adding defensive run game coordinator duties in 2022. Campenni coached with the Green Bay Packers in the Summer of 2022 as part of the NFL's Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.
In his final year with the Falcons, Campenni was also an assistant head coach, helping the team lead the country with a plus-28 turnover differential and ranking No. 25 in the nation in total defense while playing a schedule that featured facing off with three conference champions. The defense paced the Mid-American Conference in 2023 with 11 fumble recoveries, ranked third in sacks per game (2.54) and No. 4 in rushing defense (146.2 rushing yards allowed per game), earning a bid to the Quick Lane Bowl. From 2021-22, the Falcons recorded 71.0 sacks, the most over a two-year period in program history.
Campenni spent two years as a graduate assistant at Boston College working with the offensive line before his time at Bowling Green State, helping with the offensive line in those seasons. He broke into coaching following his playing career by coaching the defensive line at Wyoming Area High School in Exeter, Pa., helping the team win a conference championship.
A native of West Pittston, Pa., Campenni played four seasons at the University of Connecticut (2012-15), starting 38-of-47 career games along the defensive line. As a senior, he was a team captain and earned second-team All-American Athletic Conference honors.
