Why Marlowe Wax Is Pushing For Spot on Chargers 53-Man Roster

The Chargers have until Tuesday at 1 p.m. (PT) before the NFL's 53-man roster cutdown date.

A name to keep an eye on?

Linebacker Marlowe Wax.

Now, we're not saying Wax has cemented a spot by any means. But he's certainly pushing for a place on the squad with his play of late.

That included a dominant stretch in the second quarter in which the undrafted free agent took over the game on defense.

Wax notched back-to-back run stops on first and second down before he tallied a strip sack on third down that was recovered by Caleb Murphy.

The Chargers promptly scored on the ensuing drive as DJ Uiagalelei hit Oronde Gadsden for a 25-yard touchdown pass.

Wax then had a pass breakup on the ensuing defensive series.

Daiyan Henley and Denzel Perryman are the obvious staters at linebacker with Troy Dye next in line as a key special teamer.

Del'Shawn Phillips missed most of camp but came on strong in the final week.

And with Junior Colson currently working through something physically, maybe Wax finds his way onto the roster.

Either way, it's clear the former Syracuse standout has impressed the Chargers this summer.
