The Los Angeles Chargers today agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension with defensive lineman Teair Tart.

Acquired in training camp before the start of the 2024 season, Tart has established himself as a key contributor on the Los Angeles defensive line, starting all 18 contests in 2025 and appearing in all 36 games since joining the Bolts, including the postseason. Over the last two seasons with the Chargers, he totaled 61 tackles (37 solo), a sack, an interception, six passes defensed, six quarterback hits, nine tackles for loss and a pair of forced fumbles and two recoveries. Tart was part of a defensive unit over the last two seasons that ranked within the top-five in scoring defense (18.9 points allowed per game), total defense (304.8 total net yards allowed per game), passing defense (195.5 net passing yards allowed per game) and third down defense (35.5 pct.).

A six-year veteran, Tart has started 53-of-81 career regular-season games played with the Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers, totaling 140 tackles (86 solo), 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, 13 passes defensed, 25 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and three recoveries. He initially signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and had one of his best seasons in 2022, when he started 16 games for Tennessee and set single-season career highs in tackles (34), sacks (1.5) and passes defensed (six).

Tart finished his collegiate career at Florida International where he totaled 5.5 sacks, 50 tackles (28 solo), 19 tackles for loss and a pair of forced fumbles in 23 games played across two seasons (2018-19). He also spent time playing at ASA College (N.Y.) and Ellsworth Community College before transferring to Florida International.
