Chargers Sign Punter Toby Baker & Fourth-Round Pick Rayshawn Jenkins

The Los Angeles Chargers signed another tryout participant from the weekend's rookie mini camp, reaching a deal with punter Toby Baker.  He was one of two rookies to put pen to paper on Wednesday as fourth-round pick Rayshawn Jenkins officially inked his contract as well.

Baker is a 6-3, 215-pound product out of Arkansas who averaged 43.0 yards per punt over 27 games for the Razorbacks.  He booted 27 punts of at least 50 yards, including a career-high of 60 yards.  Meanwhile, 45 of his attempts landed inside the 20.

As a senior, Baker averaged 44.4 yards per punt, which ranked fourth in the SEC and 13th in the country. He blasted a punt of at least 50 yards in all but one game, while only three balls went through the end zone for a touchback.

Meanwhile, Jenkins is a 6-1, 214-pound safety selected 113th overall out of Miami.  A punishing hitter, he totaled 76 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and seven passes defensed last year for the Hurricanes. Jenkins inked a four-year deal with the Bolts and is the sixth member of the team's draft class to sign.

In a corresponding move, the Chargers also waived undrafted rookie tackle Mason Zandi.
