NFL Youth Education Towns (YETs) are education enrichment centers that serve as legacies in Super Bowl host cities. They are supported each year by the league and its teams in appreciation of their commitment to making a positive and lasting difference in the lives of children in their communities.
The city of Los Angeles' YET is the South Bay Youth Clubs located in the communities of Harbor City, Harbor Gateway-Gardena and Harbor Gateway-Torrance. The youth located in these communities are at-risk for drug use as well as gang involvement and crime. The goal of South Bay Youth Clubs is to teach the youth the skills they need to live positive and fulfilling lives.
On Friday, NFL Foundation member Susie Spanos, wife of Chargers Controlling Owner and Chairman of the Board Dean Spanos, presented the South Bay Youth Clubs with a $15,000 grant on behalf of the Chargers and the NFL Foundation.
The grant will allow South Bay Youth Clubs to continue and expand their sports and after school programming.
