Military Hero of the Week: Colonel Jeanette A. Martin


Colonel Jeanette A. Martin graduated from Fort Valley State University, Fort Valley, Georgia, with a degree in Criminal Justice. She was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Adjutant General's Corps in 1996. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Human Relations from Oklahoma University, Norman, Oklahoma, in 1998, as well as a Doctorate in Human Services in 2016 from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

COL Martin's military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (6th award), Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Voluntary Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th award), Meritorious Unit Citation, Joint Staff Badge, and Army Staff Badge.

The Military Hero of the Week presented by California Resources Corporation was created to acknowledge the heroic efforts and sacrifices made by our U.S. service members, veterans and their families. Each week of the Regular Season the Los Angeles Chargers will honor a Military Hero. The honored service member will receive four tickets to a Chargers home game where he or she will be recognized on-field.
