Chargers Trade for QB Cardale Jones

Mere days before the start of training camp, the Los Angeles Chargers added competition behind Philip Rivers as they acquired QB Cardale Jones from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a conditional draft choice.

The 6-5, 250-pound quarterback was the Bills' fourth-round selection (139th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.  He turned heads in 2015 when he took over at QB to lead the Buckeyes to the National Championship.  Jones was also named the MVP of the Big Ten title game that gave them a spot in the College Football Playoff after throwing for 257 yards and three TDs.

Overall, Jones completed 170 of 270 attempts for 2,323 yards and 15 touchdowns in 23 collegiate games. Furthermore, the Buckeyes went undefeated in each of his 11 starts.

Head Coach Anthony Lynn has strong ties to Jones as he coached him in Buffalo. In fact, the quarterback's lone NFL appearance came in the Bills' season finale when Lynn served as interim head coach.  Jones completed 6-of-11 passes for 96 yards.

Jones joins a Chargers squad that also features former Ohio State teammates Joey Bosa and Joshua Perry. You chance check him and the rest of the Bolts in action starting Sunday at training camp.
