The Los Angeles Chargers today announced that the team has extended the contract of Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey through the 2020 season.
"From day one, Mike has been everything we thought he'd be and more," said General Manager Tom Telesco. "He's an unquestioned leader, both in the locker room and on the field, who has earned the respect of teammates and coaches alike. His relentless work ethic – there have been times where we've had to fight to keep him off the practice field – and toughness are contagious. Mike's dependability is invaluable, and we're excited to have secured our Pro Bowl center through the 2020 season."
Pouncey, who signed with Los Angeles as a free agent in March 2018, earned his fourth Pro Bowl selection after playing in all 16 games for the Chargers in 2018. He was credited with allowing only a half a sack last season, the best mark of his career, and helped provide time for Philip Rivers to equal a career-high in passer rating.
