After returning to limited practice for the first time in three weeks, Melvin Gordon has been marked as questionable for the Thursday night matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Coaches will make a gametime decision as to if Gordon will play, but if he is unable, rookie running backs Justin Jackson and Detrez Newsome will step up in the place of Gordon and Austin Ekeler, who has been officially ruled out with a neck/concussion injury.
Gordon said on Tuesday that he has complete confidence in both of the young players.
“They were born to do this,” he remarked. “They’re running backs, man, and by all means, they can go in there and make plays if they have to.”
Also out for the Bolts are Trevor Williams (knee) and Sean Culkin (back). Brandon Mebane remains doubtful (not injury related).

Kansas City’s defense may be boosted against the Bolts as safety Eric Berry potentially makes his return to the field. Berry has been out since Week 1 of 2017 with an Achilles injury, but after participating in limited practice all week, is listed as questionable.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs offense will be strained in the absence of WR Sammy Watkins (foot) and likely absence of RB Spencer Ware (shoulder/hamstring), who is ruled doubtful for Thursday’s matchup. WR Tyreek Hill, one of KC’s biggest threats, is questionable after nursing heel and wrist injuries during the shortened week. Hill has recorded 1,258 yards on 74 receptions with 11 TDs.
