Michael Davis Joins Bolts Book Club at BGC Metro LA
Chargers cornerback Michael Davis spent time with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro LA in Bell Gardens as part of the Bolts Book Club for Latino Heritage Month. The Bolts Book Club provides free books to students in Southern California schools in an effort to inspire love for reading and increase literacy rates in children.
Chargers Kickoff the Bolts Book Club Program
The Chargers Impact Fund celebrated the launch of its new program, Bolts Book Club, at the Boys and Girls Club Watts-Willowbrook Clubhouse. Chargers All-Pro Safety Derwin James Jr. and Cornerback Michael Davis joined the club members for a special reading session to encourage the students to read 20 minutes a day. In addition, the players participated and competed in a friendly competition using words learned through the digital platform, Rhymes with Reason, which teaches vocabulary through music.
The Chargers Impact Fund and Wallis Annenberg PetSpace Host First Downs for First Books Event
Earlier this week, the Chargers Impact Fund teamed up with PetSpace for an animal welfare-themed First Downs for First Books event with students from Lincoln Elementary School. Joined by players Cameron Dicker, Derrek Tuszka, and Chargers Pup, Brisket, the students read to adoptable animals, participated in arts and crafts, learned about service animals, and took part in a puppy yoga class.
Chargers Impact Fund Partners with Wallis Annenberg PetSpace to Promote Literacy and Animal Welfare
At the kickoff event for the Chargers First Down, First Books program, the Chargers Impact Fund, along with Owner Alexis Ruhl and Outside Linebacker Chris Rumph II, visited The Wallis Annenberg PetSpace where kids from The Boys and Girls Club in Metro LA read to dogs awaiting adoption.
Chargers & Local Students Reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.'s Legacy
Justin Jones and Jason Moore joined two fifth grade classrooms from MLK Elementary in Los Angeles Unified School District to read sections of the book, "Who Was Martin Luther King, Jr.?," and discuss Dr. King's life and legacy.
