John Hinek will celebrate 40 years with the Chargers in 2012. He originally joined the team as a ball boy in 1973 and now coordinates team travel and is the facilities coordinator for the team’s practice complex. Hinek also serves as the Chargers’ training camp coordinator, a role he has held since 1978.
From 2000-04, Hinek oversaw operations at Qualcomm Stadium and he was the team's director of college scouting from 1990-94.
His father, Frank, is the former equipment manager of the Oakland Raiders (1960-62) and brother, Bronco, was the San Francisco 49ers' equipment manager from 1984-97.
Hinek was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up in Alameda, California. He attended San Diego State University and graduated with honors in physical education.
John and his late wife, Barbara, have two daughters, Camille and Jacquelyn.
