Jammer (6-0, 204) is a eleven-year cornerback in his eleventh year with the Chargers.
One of the 50 Greatest Chargers of All-Time, Quentin Jammer is the longest-tenured player on the roster. He comes into 2012 having played 156 career games in San Diego, 10th most all-time and most by a cornerback. He had to miss a game in 2011 with a hamstring strain and it was only the second one that he’s missed since 2002. The other missed game was in 2007.
Jammer, 33, is still one of the top defenders in the game and one of its surest tacklers. He boasts career totals of 670 tackles, including 568 unassisted, 18 interceptions and 121 passes defensed. Jammer is one of the Chargers’ most giving community supporters. The Jammer Family Foundation enjoys a partnership with San Pasqual Academy, a first-of-its-kind residential education campus for foster teens.
Last year, he and teammate Philip Rivers led a drive for the school to generate the necessary funding to build a brand-new football stadium on campus and he and Rivers were featured on ABC’s Good Morning America for their work with the Academy.
Jammer’s Foundation hosts an annual Thanksgiving Dinner for students and he regularly invites players from the Academy’s football team to be his guests at Chargers games and practices. He’s also provided them with equipment for their own team. In March 2009, San Diego County Supervisors Greg Cox and Ron Roberts presented Jammer with a proclamation, honoring him for his work with the Academy. And in February ’09, the Harlem Globetrotters honored Jammer during a tour stop at the San Diego Sports Arena. Jammer also supports Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). In 2010, he hosted a golf tournament to support their efforts to fight drunk driving and underage drinking. Jammer has three sons: Kaden, Kaleb and Kasen.
He enjoys golf, traveling and spending time with family and friends in San Diego and his native Texas. Jammer is a graduate of the University of Texas where his younger brother, Quandre Diggs, is now a sophomore and also plays cornerback. In June, Jammer returned to Austin, Tex. and hosted a camp for defensive backs. Jammer’s cousin, Cedric Woodard, also played at Texas in the late ’90s before enjoying a six-year career as a defensive lineman with the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.
Voted one of the 50 Greatest Chargers of All-Time, Quentin Jammer was a cornerstone for the NFL’s top-ranked defense in 2010. He started every game for a unit that led the NFL total defense, pass defense and yards allowed per pass play.
A physical bump-and-run corner, Jammer has spent his entire career in San Diego. He and his wife, Alicia, are very active in the San Diego community. Another of Jammer’s hobbies is golf and he’s a member of The Crosby and Fairbanks Ranch Country Clubs in San Diego.
