The Chargers closed out the 2013 NFL Draft by selecting quarterback Brad Sorenson in the seventh round with the 221st overall selection.                             

A three-year starter at Southern Utah, Sorenson was a second-team All-Big Sky Conference pick as a senior in the Thunderbirds’ first year in the league. Prior to their joining the Big Sky, Sorenson was the Great West Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2011 and a first-team all-conference pick as a sophomore and a junior. He passed for over 3,000 yards each of his three seasons in Cedar City, UT, and set numerous school records, including career passing yards (9,445), touchdown passes (61), completions (822).                            

A native of Colton, Calif., Sorenson played at Colton High School with Shareece Wright. In 2009, he redshirted as a freshman at Brigham Young and transferred to San Bernardino (Calif.) Valley College in ’10.                             

Sorenson’s family has a long lineage of college athletes. His brother, Daniel, played linebacker at Brigham Young in 2008 and safety from 2011-12. Another brother, Bryan, is a former tight end who played at San Bernardino Valley College. Oldest brother, Trevan, played tight end at UNLV in 1997 and from 2000-02, while brother, Cody, played at the University of Utah from 2004-05. And Sorenson’s cousin, Justin, is currently a junior placekicker at BYU.
