Bio

Signed late in the 2013 season, Smith provided the Chargers with depth at both tackle positions. A former undrafted free agent from 2011, Smith spent time in Washington and Oakland before signing with the Chargers last November.

He saw limited action in a pair of games for the Bolts and has appeared in 15 games during his career.

A native of Kenly, North Carolina, Smith was a two-sport standout in football and basketball as a prep at North Johnson High School. When he signed his letter-of-intent with East Carolina, Smith became the the first-ever graduate of North Johnson to play Division I-A football.

Smith’s brother-in-law, Dre Barnes, also played collegiately as a running back at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

TRANSACTION HISTORY: Signed with Washington as undrafted rookie, July 27, 2011...waived Aug. 31, 2012... claimed by Oakland, Sept. 1...waived, Sept. 26, 2013...signed with Chargers, Nov. 18.

2013: Started season on “Reserve-Injured” with Raiders for first three weeks before being waived...saw action for Chargers Dec. 8 vs. New York Giants and Dec. 12 at Denver... active but did not play in both postseason games.

2012: Sept. 16 at Miami replaced injured Khalif Barnes at right tackle...started for Barnes Sept. 23 vs. Pittsburgh.

2011: Earned roster spot as undrafted rookie to begin season... started final three games at left tackle...NFL debut Dec. 11 vs. New England...first-career start Dec. 18 at New York Giants...helped block for back-to-back 100-yard efforts by Evan Royster in final two games of season vs. Minnesota and at Philadelphia.

COLLEGE: First-team All-Conference USA as senior...played on conference title teams as sophomore and junior...played in 52 career games with 27 starts...selected to Athletic Director’s Honor Roll...played at East Carolina from 2007-10...degree in business management.
