Bio

Just days after the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chargers added an experienced veteran to their offensive line with the signing of center-guard Rex Hadnot.

Hadnot spent the 2010-11 campaigns with the Arizona Cardinals, where he started all 16 games at right guard in ’11.  Hadnot was a sixth-round pick (174) of the Miami Dolphins in 2004.

He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Dolphins (2004-07) and the 2008-09 seasons in Cleveland before signing with Arizona.  Hadnot’s career totals include 113 games played with 93 starts and he’s started games at four different positions: right guard (71), center (19), left guard (2) and tackle (1). Hadnot is a native of Lufkin, Tex., and Lufkin High School, where one of his teammates was former Chargers safety Terrence Kiel, who died in a car accident in 2008.

Hadnot is the creator of the Joshua’s Wishing Well Foundation. It’s in honor of his younger brother, Joshua, who died when Hadnot was just 11 years old. Joshua was born with three holes in his heart and despite several surgeries, passed away at the age of two. During visits to the hospital in Galveston, Tex., where Joshua was being treated, Hadnot and his mom, Eva Denise Ashworth, often stayed in the local Ronald McDonald House that was affiliated with the hospital. Ever since, Hadnot has continued to support the Ronald McDonald House through his foundation, while also reaching out to assist single mothers going through the difficult times of dealing with a sick child.

Since 2008, Hadnot has hosted a free football camp for kids ages 7-18 back in Lufkin. The camp instruction is free, but he is able to raise funds through concession sales and other means which support Joshua’s Wishing Well. Hadnot is married, Kathryn, and has seven children, four boys and three girls. The boys are Jacob, Joshua, and twins Justin and Tristan. The girls are Kalyn, India and Kassidi. One of Hadnot’s cousins is former Texas Tech running back James Hadnot, a third-round draft choice of the Kansas City Chiefs in 1980. He played with the Chiefs from 1980-83. Another cousin is former NBA and ABA basketball player Jim Hadnot.
