Bio

One of the gutsiest performances of the 2012 season was turned in by an undrafted rookie from UCLA. Mike Harris exceeded all expectations as he performed at one of the NFL’s most-challenging positions.

A former right tackle at UCLA, the 6-5, 318-pounder wasn’t even one of the team’s most sought after undrafted free agents. But when injuries kept incumbent starter Jared Gaither off the field during training camp, Harris became the “next man up.” He performed well in Gaither’s absence and slowly began to earn the confidence of his teammates and the coaching staff. And when the 2012 season opener in Oakland arrived, Harris was tabbed as the team’s starting left tackle.

Harris had his ups and downs as a rookie but he ended up playing in 15 games with nine starts and that experience will give him a leg up on the competition as he heads into his second professional season.
