Vasquez (6-5, 335) is a four-year offensive guard in his fourth year with the Chargers.
Louis Vasquez gives the Chargers a tough and physical starter at right guard, who has formed a solid bond with center Nick Hardwick and right tackle Jeromey Clary. Vasquez bounced back from an injury riddled 2010 season to start 14 of 16 games in ’11, while helping the Chargers rush for 1,864 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Vasquez, whose first name is pronounced LEW-iss, is one of only a handful of Mexican-American players in the NFL. He has Aztec Indian heritage on both sides of his family as well. He’s also a rarity in his own family as his father stands 5-foot-5 and his mother 5-foot-3. Vasquez is 6-foot-5 and 335 pounds. He hails from a family with a steep and rich boxing background, including his grandfather, after whom he is named. Vasquez has even done some boxing himself.
Vasquez’s hobbies include fishing, trap shooting and spending time with family and friends. He built and painted model cars as a kid and recently started pursuing that hobby again. He also wants to take music lessons to learn to play both piano and guitar.
