Hughes (5-11, 188) is a four-year cornerback in his second year with the Chargers. He played one game in 2009.
2009 turned into a redshirt year for Hughes, a fifth-round draft pick who suffered a knee injury in training camp and spent the entire season on “Reserve-Injured.”
Hughes is healthy again. He took advantage of the year away from competition to add some bulk in the weight room and will look to earn a spot on the Bolts’ 2010 roster.
Hughes played for former Chargers Head Coach Mike Riley at Oregon State. He was a speech communication major who wrote for the school’s newspaper, The Daily Barometer, and also played football for the Beavers.
