A journeyman practice squad player who spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks prior to joining the Chargers, Trovon Reed showed great promise while appearing in the final six games for the Bolts.
Reed picked off two passes in those final six games, with the interceptions coming in consecutive weeks against Carolina’s Cam Newton and Oakland’s Derek Carr. Reed was the only Chargers defender besides Pro Bowl cornerback Casey Hayward to record multiple interceptions in 2016. In the Panthers game, he ran the interception off Newton back 100 yards for an apparent touchdown, but an instant replay review determined he’d been downed by contact, and the touchdown was reversed.
