Biography

One of the Chargers’ top special teams performers, Nick Dzubnar (pronounced duh-ZOOB-nar) is looking to make a comeback after a knee injury cut short his second NFL season. A former undrafted rookie out of Cal Poly–San Luis Obispo, Dzubnar was limited to just four games in 2016.

As a rookie in 2015, Dzubnar led the Chargers with 13 tackles on special teams.

A Southern California native from Mission Viejo, Dzubnar grew up surfing, wrestling and playing hockey. The skills he acquired from those helped prepare him for football. At Cal Poly, he became the second-leading tackler in school history with 414 career stops, including a single-season school record 167 as a senior in 2014. Dzubnar’s father, Michael, also attended Cal-Poly and Dzubnar’s brother-in-law is former Chargers tackle Cory Lekkerkerker
