After a year and a half on the practice squad, Javontee Herndon earned a promotion to the active roster midway through the 2015 season and gained valuable experience as both a wide receiver and a kickoff and punt returner.
The highlight of Herndon’s season came during the Chargers’ late-November trip to his hometown of Jacksonville. The day before the game, the team held its walk-through practice at Herndon’s alma mater, The Bolles School, where he played on state championship teams in 2008 and 2009. Then a day later he had two long punt returns that helped contribute to 10 Chargers points in a 31-25 win over the Jaguars.
