Damion Square is back for his fourth season with the Chargers after appearing in 11 games with seven starts in 2016. He took over as the team’s starting nose tackle after Brandon Mebane went down with a biceps injury and was solid in relief, logging 31 tackles, six for loss and 2.5 sacks.
Square is a former undrafted free agent who spent time with Philadelphia and Kansas City before the Chargers claimed him off waivers in 2014.
Square has a number of family members who played college and pro football, including uncles John Square (University of Miami), Johnny Otis Square (Colorado State), Ronnie Miller (North Texas), and Robert Miller (Colorado State and Minnesota Vikings), and his cousin, Derek Curry (Notre Dame, Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals).
Square and his wife, Brandi, have a son, Micah, and a daughter, Carsyn.
