The new Fox 5 San Diego has guaranteed the purchase of enough tickets to lift the television blackout on Sunday’s game between the Chargers and the Carolina Panthers.  Kickoff is 1:15 pm.  The game will be shown live on Fox 5, the new Fox network affiliate in San Diego that just hit the airwaves on August 1.

Some general seats and Club Seats remain on sale at the Chargers’ ticket office at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium, by calling 619-220-TIXS (8497) or logging onto www.Chargers.com.  Tickets to all remaining home games continue on sale as well.

"Charger fans all around San Diego are excited to see this new season begin. Now every fan not attending the game will be able to see it on Fox 5 San Diego", said Ray Schonbak, Fox 5 San Diego vice president and general manager.  "Fox 5 San Diego is the new home for the ‘NFL on Fox’ and we are thrilled to kick off the season and showcase the Chargers’ home opener this Sunday.  It's important that all fans be able to enjoy this game.  Go Chargers!"

This will be the first-ever broadcast of a Chargers game and NFL regular season game on Fox 5.
