The San Diego Chargers have claimed defensive end Titus Adams off waivers from the New York Giants.  The 6-4, 305-pounder was waived by New York on Friday.  Adams occupies the roster spot vacated by defensive end Barry Cryer, who the Chargers released on Saturday.

Originally a seventh-round pick by the New York Jets in 2006, Adams spent most of his first NFL season on the Jets’ practice squad. The Giants signed him to their active roster last December, but he did not dress in the team’s final five regular-season games or their Wild Card playoff loss to Philadelphia.

Adams was a standout defensive lineman at the University of Nebraska.  The Omaha native started 22 games for the Cornhuskers, finishing his career with 134 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
