San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers will not play in the Pro Bowl on Feb. 10 due to a foot injury. Rivers injured his foot in the Chargers’ Dec. 31 regular-season finale against Arizona. He returned for the Bolts’ AFC Divisional Playoff game against New England on Jan. 14, but re-injured his foot against the Patriots.

Rivers finished the 2006 season as the AFC’s fourth rated passer (92.0). He completed 284 of 460 passes (.617) for 3,388 yards with 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Rivers was one of nine Chargers originally selected to play in the Pro Bowl. Tackle Marcus McNeill, a first-alternate, was tabbed to play in place of Cincinnati Bengals tackle Willie Anderson, who will miss the game with a foot injury, meaning the Chargers will still have a team-record nine players competing in the Pro Bowl. They include LaDainian Tomlinson, Lorenzo Neal, Antonio Gates, Nick Hardwick, McNeill, Jamal Williams, Shawne Merriman, Kassim Osgood and Nate Kaeding.

The 2007 Pro Bowl will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. The game will kick off at 3:00 p.m. PST. It will be televised by CBS on KFMB-TV, Channel 8 in San Diego and KCBS-TV, Channel 2 in Los Angeles and Orange County.
