Kaeding out, Chargers sign Novak

The San Diego Chargers signed kicker Nick Novak and released offensive lineman Reggie Wells.
 
Kicker Nate Kaeding has been ruled out of Sunday’s game in Kansas City due to a groin injury.
 
After Kaeding suffered a knee injury in the 2011 season opener, Novak spent the final 15 games with the Chargers and connected on 27 of 34 field goal attempts.  He was released on the final cut prior to the start of this season.
