The Chargers have signed cornerback Greg Gatson
from the team’s practice squad and released guard-tackle Reggie Wells.
The 5-11, 170-pound Gatson, who wears No. 31, was signed in May as an undrafted rookie from Arkansas. He collected 15 tackles on defense during the preseason and one on special teams.
The need to promote Gatson stems from the Chargers being down a man at cornerback. Second year pro Shareece Wright
suffered a foot injury on Monday night's opening kickoff, leading to the team being thin in the secondary. Gatson's presence gives the Bolts some insurance in case another defensive back goes down with an injury during Sunday's game vs. the Tennessee Titans.
