Chargers Make Changes to Football Operations

Posted May 14, 2013

The San Diego Chargers made a few changes to the front office today.

The San Diego Chargers announced today several changes within their Football Operations department. College scout Ed Langsdorf announced his retirement and the Chargers hired former Cleveland Browns area scout Donovan Beidelschies (pronounced buy-del-CHEESE) as a college scout.

Langsdorf steps aside after 13 seasons with the Chargers.  He joined the team in 2000 after spending 20 years as a teacher and coach at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon, including four seasons (1992-95) as the Wildcats’ head coach. Langsdorf scouted the Northwest for the Chargers.

“Ed has been an integral part of the Chargers scouting department for 13 years,” said Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco. “He is universally held in high regard throughout the NFL and the entire Chargers organization thanks Ed for his years of dedication and service to the club.”

Beidelschies spent eight seasons in Cleveland, including the last three as a college area scout. He spent two seasons with the Browns as a team operations coordinator (2005-06), two as a player personnel assistant – college scout (2007-08) and one as a scout (2009).

Before joining the Browns, Beidelschies spent four seasons (2001-04) at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., as an assistant football coach, special teams coordinator and travel coordinator. He also served one year (2000) as an assistant coach at Allegheny College.

Beidelschies played football at Heidelberg College and graduated in 2000 with a degree in history and secondary education. He went on to earn his master’s degree in higher education administration from Youngstown State University in 2004. A native of Tiffin, Ohio, he and his wife, Michelle, have a daughter, Meagan.

The Chargers also announced a pair of moves within the Football Operations department. Chris Hobbs has been promoted to college scout and Travis Lash has been named executive assistant-player personnel.
