It took both legendary Jim Brown and future Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith 93 games to score 100 touchdowns.  LaDainian Tomlinson needed only 89.

Tomlinson became the fastest player in NFL history to reach the century mark in touchdowns with a pair of scores in the Chargers’ slugfest at Denver Sunday night.  The first came on a three-yard run in the first quarter.  The second, his 100th of his career, was from the same distance and came in the third quarter.

In the process, Tomlinson became the second-fastest player in league annals to rush for 90 touchdowns.  Smith is the fastest, having accomplished the feat in 88 games.

LT added a 51-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter that allowed him to break his own team record for touchdowns in a single season.  The run gave Tomlinson 21 on the year, one more than the number he recorded when he initially broke Chick Muncie’s 24-year old team record of 19 last season.

Tomlinson’s one-yard plunge in the fourth quarter left him with 22 on the season and allowed him to tie an NFL record for most consecutive games with four touchdowns with two.  LT also accomplished the feat last week in Cincinnati.
