The 2007 season has been in the books for over four months now, but the postseason honors may continue to roll in for LaDainian Tomlinson. The NFL’s reigning MVP learned Monday that he’s been nominated for four ESPY Awards.

Tomlinson is up for Best Male Athlete, Best Record-Breaking Performance, Best NFL Player and the HUMMER Like Nothing Else Award categories. Winners are determined by a popular vote and polls are open from June 25 through July 8 at www.espys.tv. Chargers fans are encouraged to visit the site and vote for the NFL’s most electric player.

In the Best Male Athlete category, Tomlinson is up against LeBron James, tennis star Roger Federer, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and golfer Tiger Woods. The record-breaking performance category pits LT against surfer Kelly Slater, Texas Tech men’s basketball coach Bobby Knight and swimmer Michael Phelps. He’ll also square off against Manning in the Best NFL Player category, as well as his good friend Drew Brees, Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher and Chiefs running back Larry Johnson.

Tomlinson matches up against James, Phelps, WNBA star Diana Taurasi and Hughes (Ark.) High School running back Kendric Smith for the Hummer Like Nothing Else Awards. Smith earned a nod for rushing for nine touchdowns in a game last fall.

Although he has been nominated in the past, Tomlinson has never received an ESPY award. He was nominated for Best NFL Player at last year’s event, but the honor went to Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander.
