Sunday was an exciting day for Chargers wide receiver CraigDavis. On his first full day as an NFL player, he hopped on a plane in New Orleans Sunday morning and arrived at Chargers Park a little after 1 pm Pacific Time. After being introduced at a press conference, Craig took some time to chat with Chargers.com.

CraigDavis: I'm so glad to be here.  It's amazing to be a Charger! I'd be happy to take some questions if you guys have any.

hitemhard05: Craig, when the Chargers gave you that call, were you surprised?

Craig:  Not at all. I had a great visit out here and thought I'd fit in well. I wasn't surprised but I sure was happy.

DaBone Hey Craig, how did you get the nickname Buster?

Craig:  My grandmother gave it to me when I was a baby. It's not really a unique story. Just somethign I've always gone by.

Jprietman:  Welcome Buster! How was draft day for you?
Craig: It was great. I was at a hotel in New Orleans with my agent watching, hoping and waiting. The Chargers called and I got really happy.

Tmoney: Craig, which receiver would you compare yourself too?

Craig:  I think I'm like Reggie Wayne. We've got similar personalities and styles. His father was my athletic director in high school and I know him really well.

dubby_dub: Have you spoken with Philip Rivers yet? If so, what has he said to you?

Craig:  I just met him a few minutes ago. He said he was looking forward to playing with me. I know he was a great player in college and he's going to be a special pro.

fatal2k4:Craig, what cb are you looking forward to playing against?

Craig:  There's no one in particular. I'm just ready to go at it every week.

Shoules:  What was your relationship like with Dwayne Bowe and how is that going to change now that you're in rival teams?

Craig:  It doesn't mean anything that we're rivals because beyond football we're very good friends. I am out to beat him, though!

hitemhard05: How do you feel about having to face JaMarcus twice a year in Oakland, and Dwayne twice a year in KC?

Craig: It will be a lot of fun.  It's going to be great just seeing how JaMarcus develops as a quarterback. I'm going to try to out do them both.

Jprietman: Buster, how much time did you spend with San Diego leading up to the draft, compared to other organizations?

Craig: I came on a visit out here and really loved it. I went to dinner with Vincent Jackson. He's a really cool guy and we're going to be good friends. This was the only visit I took.

DaBone:  A lot of LT's long touchdown runs last season were due to some key blocking from our wide receivers like Vincent Jackson for example. Can you be a great blocker for us as well as a receiving threat?

Craig: Definitely! My high school coach was ridiculous at blocking. Once he put me at TE for two weeks in practice, I was about 170 pounds. I had to block those big linemen. I learned a lot from that experience that has helped me become a good blocker. I take a lot of pride in it.

hitemhard05: What are your goals for your rookie season?

Craig:  Super Bowl!

Jprietman: Craig, what will be your first big purchase as a pro?

Craig:  Between learning the playbook and adjusting to being a pro, I've got a lot bigger things to worry about right now than that.

Shoules:  were you expecting to be drafted this high?

Craig:  I thought I could go late first or early second.

Travis:  who are some of the WR's you admire and have looked up to growing up?

Craig:  I mentioned Reggie Wayne but also Jerry Rice. That's about it.

SuperBowlBolts: Hey Craig what type of numbers do you expect to put up this year?

Craig:  I don't like to show people up and make guarantees. That's just not my style. I just want to do what I can to help us win.

Travis:Do you expect to return kickoffs and punts this season, and is this something you want to do?

Craig:  I don't know yet if I will but I enjoy doing that and I will if I'm asked.

Shoules: How do you feel about getting to work with James Lofton?

Craig:  It's awesome. Not many guys get to play for a Hall of Famer who knows what it takes and has done it day in and day out.

DaBone:  Before the start of the season all the charger players go out to dinner at a high end restaurant and make the rookie draft picks pay for everything from limo service, and expensive meals...What are your thoughts on this?

Craig:  It has to be done. Everyone has done it so I guess I'll be ready.

Gfxgvb:  Are you ready to try a California burrito?

Craig:  I don't even know what that is! I'm used to eating gumbo.

benjamink15: Hey Craig, who on this team are you most excited to play with or lineup against in practice?

Craig: It's obvious. LT, Gates and Merriman.

Travis: Do you think you are more of a possession WR, or deep threat or both?
Craig:  I think I'm all. I've got the speed to go deep but I'm not afraid to go across the middle.

Sanluischargerfan:  You going to try surfing now that you are in California?

Craig:  I'm scared of sharks. I'm not getting in the water.

Craig:Hey guys, I've got to run to a meeting. Thanks for chatting. I'll catch up with you guys again soon.
