Chargers make three moves

Posted Sep 1, 2009

The Chargers reached the NFL’s mandatory active roster limit of 75 players today by making three transactions.

First, the Chargers placed cornerback Brandon Hughes on “Reserve – Injured.”  Hughes, the team’s fifth-round pick in this year’s draft, suffered a knee injury in Saturday’s preseason game at Atlanta.

Wide receiver Demetrius Byrd, the team’s seventh-round draft pick who signed a four-year deal Monday, will spend the entire year on “Reserve – Non Football Injury.”  Byrd continues to recover from injuries suffered in an automobile accident suffered a week prior to the draft.

And finally, the Chargers released linebacker Anthony Felder, an undrafted free agent from California-Berkeley.

NFL teams must reduce their active rosters to 53 players by Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. PT.
