With Neck Sprain, Floyd Unlikely for Titans

Posted Sep 16, 2013

Head Coach Mike McCoy opened his press conference by discussing Malcom Floyd's injury.

At his Monday press conference, Head Coach Mike McCoy began by giving an update on wide receiver Malcom Floyd, who left the game via a stretcher after suffering a neck sprain on Sunday.

Here is what he had to say:

“I’ll start off by first saying it was great to have Malcom come back with us on the team plane last night.  It’s unlikely he’ll play this week.  They’re going to continue to do some tests on him throughout the week just to make sure we’re doing everything the right way.  But it was great to have him back on the plane.  You talk about the type of guy he is, the first thing when you talk to him, he says, ‘Gosh, I should have caught the ball.’  That’s Malcom for you.  So he’s in good spirits and he’s working on getting his way back as soon as he can.”

Later in the day, Floyd himself addressed the media in the locker room.

Here are some of the highlights of what he had to say:

“It’s the second time in two months I was carted off the field, but that’s part of the game.  You’ve just got to understand that and move on.  It’s been diagnosed as a neck sprain, so we’ll just take it day by day and see how it goes.  Hopefully it gets better pretty soon.”

“I thought I caught the ball at first, and then as soon as I got hit all of my limbs just went limp and there was a huge shock throughout my whole body.  Once I came to my neck was pretty sore. So (Head Athletic Trainer) James Collins came on the field and just told me to stay down.  They just wanted to make sure my neck was secure before I started moving around.  They put me on the stretcher and I was in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.”

“I appreciate all the prayers that were sent to me.  I got multiple texts, and even on the Eagles sideline they were praying for me, so that feels good. It seems like those prayers were answered because I could be in a wheelchair right now.  But I’m up and walking and ready to get better every day.”
