Week in Review: Final Practices of Offseason

Posted Jun 16, 2013

Here is your weekly recap of what went down at Chargers Park last week.

Last week was arguably the busiest week of the offseason for the San Diego Chargers, and we were with you every step of the way to provide extensive coverage of the Bolts.

Things kicked off on Monday with an event the team will remember for years to come.  The Chargers designated June 10th as “Thank You San Diego Day.” The entire team took to the streets of America’s Finest City to express gratitude for the greatest fans in the world. Check out the reaction on social media right here, and click on this link to see what the Chargers themselves had to say. You can find exclusive photos of the the team around San Diego right here, and then click on this instagallery to see photos fans uploaded. Be sure to watch the video below for a one-of-a-kind glimpse of "Thank You San Diego Day."

On Tuesday the team gathered together for the beginning of the final mini camp before training camp next month.  We spoke to rookies D.J. Fluker, Manti Te'o and Keenan Allen to get their thoughts on the three-day mini camp.  Click here to read all about it. The Chargers have come a long way since the beginning of the offseason, and head coach Mike McCoy credits his coaching staff for a job well done.  Meanwhile, Philip Rivers says the team is headed in the right direction while Te'o claims San Diego is the perfect place for him. Watch below to see McCoy, Rivers and Te'o address the media.

Malcom Floyd chimed in as well, saying he is hungry for a championship, and on the offensive line, Chad Rinehart may be new to the Chargers, but he's very familiar with the team's scheme.

To see the team in action, click on a pair of photo galleries here and here, and then watch the videos below.

After the final practice on Thursday, the Chargers spoke about how they've embraced McCoy's system and philosphies.  Read all about it right here.  Afterwards, McCoy spoke to the media once again on a wide array of topics as well, and you can watch it below.

Later in the day we announced training camp dates open to public.  The team also announced that health issues caused team doctor David Chao to step down, and he is being replaced by Dr. Christopher Wahl.  We also continued our Throwback Thursday feature, this time focusing on Marcus GilchristCheck out this photo gallery documenting his time as a defensive back at Clemson up to today.

On Saturday, legendary running back LaDainian Tomlinson held his first LT5K to raise money for his Tomlinson's Touching Lives Foundation.

Finally, we'd like to wish a happy Fathers Day to all the Chargers Dads out there!
