Vote Allen Pepsi Next Rookie of Week

Posted Dec 17, 2013

Help Keenan Allen win the Pepsi Next Rookie of the Week award for the third time this season.

Keenan Allen has already won the Pepsi Next Rookie of the Week award twice for his performances against the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, he’s looking for his third after his two-touchdown performance against the Denver Broncos.

Allen dominated the second quarter against Denver, recording his two catches on the day over that 15-minute span, good for 14 points.

His first touchdown was one that will be remembered for some time.  On third down from about the 20, he caught a crossing route over the middle and would not be denied from hitting pay dirt.  He evaded one tackler, leaped over another before barreling into a third by pushing him across the goal line for the score.

“Philip gave me the ball pretty quick so I was able to get my head around it,” Allen said.  “I saw green grass and the touchdown and two defenders in front of me.  It was all a mindset.  I wasn’t going to be denied.”

A few minutes later before the end of the half, he put the Chargers up for the remainder of the game with a 10-yard touchdown catch in the back corner of the end zone that once gain came on third down.

If there is a better rookie wide receiver in the NFL, Philip Rivers doesn’t know who it could possibly be.

"It's never too big for him out there,” he said. “He just knows how to play."

Be sure to keep voting for Allen right here for the Pepsi Next Rookie of the Week.

And don’t forget to help Allen reach the Pro Bowl by voting to send him and his fellow Chargers to Hawaii.
