Statement on the passing of Paul Oliver

Posted Sep 25, 2013

The Chargers have released a statement regarding the passing of former player Paul Oliver.

Former San Diego Chargers safety Paul Oliver passed away Tuesday at the age of 29.  The Chargers released the following statement:

“Everyone in the Chargers family is sad today after hearing the news about Paul.  He was part of our family for five years.  At just 29 years old, he still had a lifetime in front of him.  Right now all of our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this most difficult time.”

Oliver was drafted out of Georgia in the fourth-round of the 2007 Supplemental Draft. He didn't appear in a game until 2008, and over parts of four seasons with the Bolts, he recorded 144 tackles, four interceptions, 11 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one sack.  His best season came in 2010 when he made eight starts and recorded 62 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and broke up three passes.
