“This is definitely a milestone I take seriously,” said the 15-year veteran. “You look at all the greats who haven’t done it and see what you’ve accomplished, and also see the few who have done it, it means a lot.”
Spikes continues to inspire his teammates, even veterans who have been around for a while such as ![]()
“To play in 200 football games, that’s huge,” said Phillips. “It’s rare. A guy like that is a rare breed. There’s only a handful of guys that can do that. The way he takes care of his body and the way he prepares for each game, and the passion and love he has for it, it inspires me. The amount of heart he has, I look up to him. I try to do whatever he does. If he’s in the hot tub, I’m in the hot tub. If he’s in the sauna, I’m in the sauna. I want to do everything he does.”
Still, despite all his individual goals, only one thing matters to Spikes – winning that elusive Super Bowl title.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about one thing,” he said. “And that’s getting that championship. I want to get that ring.”
