Scifres, Carney to host celebrity dinner

Chargers punter Mike Scifres and former Chargers kicker John Carney are teaming up to help San Diegans in need through the “Break’n the Walls of Jericho Dinner With The Pros.”

Chargers punter Mike Scifres and former Chargers kicker John Carneyinvite San Diegans to join them Friday night for a special event aimed at raising money for three organizations that assist San Diegans in need.

Scifres and Carney will host Break’n the Walls of Jericho DINNER WITH THE PROS Friday at Pamplemousse Grille in Solana Beach. A cocktail reception and silent auction will begin at 6 pm followed by dinner at 7:30 pm.

The event benefits St. Michael’s Center City Schools which aids in supporting tuition assistance, education, health and athletic programs; Mary’s Mercy Center, and Veronica’s Home of Mercy which serves the needs of adult pregnant women and women with children, prenatal to seven years at time of entry.

Scifres and Carney will be joined by other celebrities, including Chargers center Nick Hardwick and wide receiver Kassim Osgood, Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, Saints players Thomas Morstead, Will Smith and Jason Kyle, Cowboys kicker David Buhler, former Chargers Junior Seau and Mike Goff, Jets punter Steve Weatherford, former Chargers wide receivers coach James Lofton and several others.

The celebrities will don waiter uniforms to serve guests a gourmet meal prepared by Pamplemousse Grille Chef-owner Jeffrey Strauss. Pamplemousse Grille is one of the top Five Star restaurants in San Diego.

Former NBC Sports anchor Jim Stone will emcee the evening which features a silent auction and a live auction conducted by Scott Kaplan and Billy Ray Smith of the Scott and BR Show on XX1090 Sports Radio.

At present sponsors for the event include EDCO Corporation, San Diego Padres, Maxine and Marti Gellens/Prudential California Reality and Kim Blickenstaff.

Pamplemousse Grille is located at 514 Via de la Valle in Solana Beach.
