Every Friday I'll be answering questions from you, the fans.  I'll be updating this mailbag throughout the day so be sure to keep checking back to see if yours is answered.

Q: Which five of the current Chargers roster would make the most competitive basketball team? –Willyum Gould

A: Interesting question!  First would have to be Antonio Gates.  He played at Kent State and as a senior received Honorable Mention All-American Honors averaging 20.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists.  So he would definitely man one of the forward spots. I’d put Malcom Floyd at the other forward spot because of his height and athleticism, and at center I’d put Dante Rosario (even though he’d be undersized) since he excelled at the sport in high school.  At the guard positions I’d go with Eric Weddle and Ronnie Brown because of their speed and quickness. 

Q: Do you think that the Chargers offense can match up points to Peyton Manning’s offense?

A: I do.  The Chargers are averaging 24.8 points per game, well within striking distance of the Broncos’ 27.0 ppg.  The Bolts defense also is only allowing 20.4 ppg. Overall I expect the game to be a high-scoring affair very similar to the last one against the Saints, with the outcome being decided at the very end by a slim margin.

Q: How's Shareece Wright doing? What are the odds we'll see him playing soon? – Jim Smith

A: Shareece returned to practice on Wednesday and has a good chance to play on Monday. He is still experiencing pain and discomfort, but as long as it doesn’t impede his ability to produce on the field, he expects to play through it. Norv Turner wants to see how Wright responds to three days of practice before making any determination of his playing time or if he will even suit up, but things are looking quite promising at the moment.

Q: Why isn’t Eddie Royal more involved in the offense? –Derrel Kingdom

A: Thanks for the question Derrel.  According to Philip Rivers, the Chargers offense isn’t keyed on getting one player more involved than any other.  Their passing game is about spreading the ball around to everyone, and you never know who will have the hot hand on a given day.  A receiver may go three quarters only getting one or two passes thrown his way, but then in the fourth have four or five catches.  It’s just the way they’ve always been, and it keeps the defense off balance.  That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Royal have a break out game this week against his former team.

Q: What is the latest update on Vincent Brown? How is his rehab going and what is the plan for his return? – Jewel R.

A: Vincent has been working extremely hard, and according to the new rules for the player “designated to return” from IR, he can begin practice over the bye week. He isn’t eligible to return until after Week 8 however, so the soonest we can see him back on the field would be the Thursday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs on November 1.  I actually caught up with Vincent this morning, so be on the lookout for an update from him later today on Chargers.com.

Q: What do you think is the Chargers biggest Achilles heel? – Fred Marsh

A: Tough question.  Although they’ve improved in the area compared to last year, I’d still like to see the team get better on defense on third downs.  They currently rank 22^nd in the league, allowing opposing offenses to convert at a 43% clip.  I wouldn’t call it an Achilles heel per se, but it is important that they start trending in the right direction before it becomes one.

Q: Anything positive on the stadium front? When can we expect to hear more updates on it? – Jared Pratt

A: I got a lot of questions asking for updates on the new stadium.  The most up to date info I have is what was written by Special Counsel Mark Fabiani last month.  You can check it out here.
