The first days of training camp have provided a variety of highlights and exciting competition.
But perhaps no portion of practice has provided more thrills than when the wide receivers and defensive backs face off against each other. A deep receiving corps and a young, hungry secondary have had a number of fierce battles, and the best part is that they are raising each other’s game in the process.

“They are very good cornerbacks and they challenge us every single day,” said Royal. “That’s why you have to go out there and bring it and be ready to practice every single day. Because if you’re not, those guys are going to embarrass you.”
Brown echoed the same sentiments, claiming that the Chargers secondary is exactly the test he needs coming off an ankle injury that cost him all of 2012.
“You can’t take any shortcuts going against them,” he said. “I know I have to be precise in my routes and concentrate if I want to beat them, and that helps me gain confidence in being completely healthy. Because if I’m able to win some battles against them, I know my body must be right.”
