Prospect Profile: Pierre Desir

Posted Apr 28, 2014

Learn more about Lindenwood cornerback Pierre Desir.

In order to familiarize fans with some of the top names in the 2014 NFL Draft, Chargers.com will be highlighting a different prospect each weekday leading up to the first day of the draft on May 8th.

We continue the series with a scouting report of Lindenwoods Pierre Desir.

Name: Pierre Desir
School: Lindenwood
Height: 6-1
Weight: 198 pounds
Position: Cornerback

Odds are you never heard of tiny Lindenwood University.

That all may change very shortly as Pierre Desir is poised to jump from Division II to the NFL.

Desir began at a different Division II school, Washburn University, before transferring to Lindenwood prior to the 2012 season.  That year he set a school record with nine interceptions along with 60 tackles, nine passes defensed, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.  This past season, he notched 33 tackles, eight passes defensed and four interceptions, winning the Cliff Harris Award as the country’s best small college defensive back.  As a result, he earned his way to the East-West Shrine Game and Senior Bowl where he continued to turn heads.

A superior athlete, Desir leapt out of Lucas Oil Stadium, ranking second in the entire combine with a 133.0 inch broad jump.  That athleticism combined with his outstanding 6-1, 198-pound frame allows him to constantly make plays on the ball.  In addition to his ball hawking prowess, Desir is a firm tackler who relies on his athleticism in all facets of his game.

Pundits claim there will be a sharp learning curve as the Haitian makes the jump from Division II to the NFL.  But with such a unique package of size and athleticism, if a team is willing to coach Desir up and let him develop, they may unearth a star.

Combine Metrics

40-yard Dash: 4.59
Bench Press: 11 reps
Vertical Jump: 35.0 inches
Broad Jump: 133.0 inches
