LSU has been stocked with so many studs on defense in recent years, Kevin Minter kind of got lost in the shuffle in regards to the national spotlight.

That’s not the case anymore.

The inside linebacker has made a name for himself and is widely considered one of the top prospects at his position.

As a junior in 2012, Minter was a crucial part of a stout defense.  He finished the year with 130 tackles, leading the squad with 15 for a loss in addition to four sacks, five passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble. In the process, he became a consensus first –team All-SEC selection and was named the team’s most valuable player.

A leader among men who prefers to lead by example, he commands the respect of his teammates.  Minter is regarded as a fundamentally sound linebacker who takes a cerebral approach to his position.  Considered to be very aggressive, he’s capable of slipping away from blocks with ease and always gives 100%. Scouts also note that he is better against the run than he is vs. the pass.

Minter’s main weakness is his relative lack of speed.  While he does play up-tempo and aggressive, sometimes he doesn’t have that last burst needed to close the distance. Still, Minter is another player whose name has risen up draft boards in recent weeks as scouts delve deeper into prospects.   When all is said and done, it’s quite plausible he finds himself selected in the first round.
