The first thing people usually notice about Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is his unusual name.

However, it doesn’t take long for them to figure out he has a pretty special game, too.

Clinton-Dix had three productive seasons for the powerhouse Alabama Crimson Tide.  He played in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2011, helping the team win the BCS National Championship.  Clinton-Dix played an even more pivotal role in Alabama’s second consecutive national title as a sophomore, registering 37 tackles, four passes defensed and an SEC-high five interceptions.  He recorded a pick in both the SEC Championship Game in a victory over Georgia as well as the BCS National Championship Game over Notre Dame.  Finally, in his junior season in Alabama, he more than doubled his previous high for tackles in a season with 78 to go along with three interceptions.

An instinctive athlete with the prototypical build for a safety, some have compared the 6-1, 208-pounder to the likes of Earl Thomas.  Clinton-Dix possesses an explosive first step and is known to be extremely aggressive. He is adept at handling receivers in man coverage but is also effective roaming the backfield as a more traditional free safety.

Clinton-Dix has a penchant for delivering bone-crunching hits, though some are concerned he attempts them rather than making the surefire wrap up tackle.  Nonetheless, it’s a safe bet that Clinton-Dix hears his name called early on May 8th and becomes a staple on a team’s secondary for years to come.
